Choosing wood floors for a bedroom

Choosing wood floors for a bedroom

Both solid and engineered hardwood floors are a popular choice for bedrooms. They’re naturally beautiful and can be coordinated with just about any decor. They’re also easy to keep clean and dust-free by sweeping or wiping with a damp mop.

Choosing the right wood flooring for your bedroom involves making decisions about the type of wood, finish, grain pattern, and plank width. And with so many options available, it’s often difficult to know where to begin.

To help you choose the right floor for your bedroom, we have carefully sorted our engineered wood flooring range into ten distinct collections: GraceHeritage, NoblePrestige, Pure, Shade, Segno, and Viva . Each collection offers a unique selection of designs, patterns, colours and finishes to help you create your desired ambience and aesthetic. For example, our Heritage collection focuses on the natural details of the oak, creating a more rustic look.
Regardless of your specific design style preferences, our wood flooring combines style, elegance and long-lasting durability to enhance any bedroom.

Benefits of wood flooring in bedrooms

Pros of using wood flooring in bedrooms

• Attractive and natural
• Comfortable underfoot
• Hygienic

Attractive – Wood flooring is natural and stylish and brings instant warmth and elegance to bedrooms.

Comfortable underfoot – While not as warm or soft as carpet, wood is more comfortable than harder bedroom flooring alternatives such as laminate. Area rugs are also commonly used on top of hardwood floors to add warmth and softness underfoot.

Hygienic – Wood floors are easy to keep clean and dust-free by sweeping or wiping with a damp cloth, which makes them an ideal choice for allergy sufferers.

Drawbacks of wood flooring in bedrooms

Cons of using wood flooring in bedrooms

• Expensive
• No thermal or sound insulation properties

Expensive – Wood flooring is relatively expensive compared to alternative bedroom flooring options. However, depending on the quality of the wood floor you choose and how well you care for it, wood floors can last for up to 100 years.

No thermal or sound insulation properties – On their own, wood floors don’t have thermal or sound insulation qualities and can be noisy to walk on. However, if you install a wood flooring underlay, it helps reduce sound and provide added thermal insulation. We recommend Tarkofoam II, Tarkoflex II or a technically similar underlay. Tarkoflex II should be used if you’re installing underfloor heating systems.
